More Challenge! Are You Ready?

Happy New Year to everyone!  Welcome to the MORE Challenge.

What's the More Challenge you ask?  See the list on the left.   There is one 'more' on the list for each week of the first quarter of 2017! 

Just imagine how you would feel and the change in your life, if, by the end of March, you did each one of those 'mores'?

First - there are the excuses why you can not do all these 'mores'.  I looked to those excuses to find the underlying reasons (not all of them as I'm not a psychic) why we don't get to do MORE.

There are two excuses that seem to resonate on a regular basis -  'don't have the time' and 'don't have the money'.  Really?  If all these items were to be eliminated from life forever in the next 13 weeks, would you change what you are living life right now?

Day 15 - Sleep on it

Today's challenge was to weigh the decision on whether or not to buy something.   I've several items that fit in this category.

One item that I have put the stops on is a camcorder with a tripod and boom.  I have been doing some work with the local community TV station and would like to do do my own videos.  Right now, while the sales are enticing, it is not the right time to get one.  I simply do not have the time in my schedule to embark on it.  

Another item is a new vacuum.  LOL yes the vacuum I have is the one my parents gave me when I got my first apartment after college; more than 20 years ago!  The hose is splitting and has been taped and taped several times.  What a great machine; unfortunately parts are not available any longer.  While not too exciting to think about a vacuum, it is becoming a necessity.  

Success for Day 15 - and item for donate box - a old blender, not used, and in fine working order.

Today's Challenge - Day 16  - Tackling sentimental items - and - find one item to put in the donate box.

New Checking Account According to Seamus

I need to have my nephew stay with me more often.  We get into so many "deep" subjects and his questions and comments can be priceless.  Super topics - I should call it "When the innocent talks".

We were talking about money.  Giving a tip at dinner, making money, saving money for college and writting a check.  Rembember he's eight years old.  I was telling him that I save some money and  I put a check for $100 into this college account.  He wanted to know if the check had to be $100 or could it be like $90?  Good question, though I was having a hard time following the train of thought.  I was able to finally have him understand that the check could be any amount, even let's say $38.24.  Oh, ... "that's good" he sighed.

Without missing a breath, he wanted to know where did the money come from to write a check.  Was there just a place where checks are?  Like extra money?  (this must be like a money fairy?)  After some discussion I told him if I wrote a check, the money would come out of my savings account.  The bank would transfer the amount from my account to his savings account.  He thought on it for awhile, then said flatly "okay I get it.  There is no extra money around somewhere."
